The Museum is temporarily closed for reorganization. Reopening on Saturday 23 March at 5pm with the inauguration of the new exhibition.

The Museo Casa Rusca is the meeting place for contemporary art lovers
The Museo Casa Rusca is located in an 18th-century building restored and reopened in 1987. Through temporary exhibitions, it preserves and presents the art collections owned by the City of Locarno. EXPLORE »

CURRENT EXHIBITIONS
The Casa Rusca Museum is pleased to kick off its 2023 program with three exhibitions: a retrospective on process painting by Swiss artist Xanti Schawinsky (1904-1979), who also lived in Locarno, and solo exhibitions by Swiss artists Valentina Pini ( *1982) and Sabine Schlatter (*1977).
The marked interest in the "procedural" in art binds the three artists in a trans-historical dialogue between generations. In the summer the dialogue will continue with two other exhibitions.

Aldo Mozzini. Quasi una retrospettiva
The exhibition Quasi una retrospettiva is the first major retrospective dedicated to Aldo Mozzini, an artist born in Locarno but active in Zurich since the eighties. The exhibition will be accompanied by a significant monograph with contributions from prominent art historians and will highlight Aldo Mozzini's contribution to the national artistic landscape.

Karim Forlin. Now... where was I?
Museo Casa Rusca presents the first monographic exhibition of Karim Forlin in a museum of Italian Switzerland. On this occasion, a selection of works from recent years will be accompanied by numerous new productions, in the spaces of Sinopia, in the garden, in the courtyard, and in a room on the ground floor.

Lisa Lurati. Going back into nothing
Going back into nothing Lisa Lurati, among the leading emerging artists of Italian Switzerland, presents a series of new productions for her first solo exhibition in a museum of Italian Switzerland, drawing from the imaginaries of ancient cultures of South and Central America, but whose archetypes are part of an intangible heritage that we can consider global.

Il Museo Casa Rusca presenta dal 24 marzo al 7 luglio una mostra dal titolo Corrispondenze. Italo Valenti e i sodalizi artistici fra Vicenza e Locarno, a cura di Veronica Provenzale, che indaga le interessanti esperienze sviluppate in Veneto e in Canton Ticino da due gruppi di intellettuali (artisti e poeti) che hanno in comune la presenza e l’attività del pittore Italo Valenti (Milano, 1912-Ascona, 1995).
Realizzata dal Museo Casa Rusca di Locarno in coproduzione con l’Archivio Italo Valenti di Mendrisio, con la collaborazione dell’Accademia Olimpica, del Museo Civico di Palazzo Chiericati, dell’Assessorato alla cultura del Comune di Vicenza, e della Fondazione Remo Rossi di Locarno, l’esposizione, nel tracciare il percorso personale e artistico di Italo Valenti, approfondisce dunque la conoscenza di due sodalizi artistici, attivi il primo a Vicenza dall’inizio degli anni Trenta ai primi Cinquanta del secolo scorso e il secondo nel Locarnese tra gli anni Cinquanta e gli Ottanta. La nuova serie di appuntamenti espositivi, volti ad arricchire l’offerta culturale di Locarno, si pone accanto alle importanti rassegne di respirinternazionale di Casa Rusca, rivolgendo una particolare attenzione agli artisti, giovani e meno giovani, attivi in Ticino. Si intende pertanto incoraggiare una definitiva consacrazione museale di pittori e scultori del nostro territorio. L’iniziativa ha l’ambizione di porre in evidenza ricerche espressive eterogenee, in un alternarsi di linguaggi e di tecniche, di poetiche e di visioni, di attenzione alla tradizione e di approcci innovativi.
Gli artisti che presenteranno le loro opere a Casa Rusca sono accumunati dalla freschezza dell’ispirazione, ma soprattutto dalla qualità e dall’originalità della loro proposta creativa.
Stephan Spicher. Elementals - Elementi di natura
Dal 26 maggio al 14 luglio 2019 il Museo Casa Rusca dedica una mostra all’artista Stephan Spicher, presentando una selezione di opere pittoriche recenti.
L’esposizione, dal titolo Elementals - Elementi di natura, s’inserisce nel solco del progetto Locarno Arte, giunto al settimo appuntamento, volto a mettere in evidenza le ricerche espressive di artisti del territorio e a offrire loro una meritevole valorizzazione a livello museale. SCOPRI »

Kleines spannendes Museeeum
Wir hatten hier die Ausstellung zu Hans Erni angesehen im 2015. Ich kann das Museum sehr empfehlen. Eine bis zwei Stunden reichen. Daneben befindet sich die Chiesa S. Antonio. Empfehlenswert!
